Arriving at the end of the "supermodel era", Moss rose to fame in the early 1990s as part of the heroin chic fashion trend. With a distinctive small stature and size zero figure that stood in sharp contrast to many of the curvy supermodels of her time, Kate Moss created a niche for herself in the modelling industry. She was reportedly caught snorting cocaine with her boyfriend Pete Doherty. The lead singer of the band Babyshambles, Doherty has been arrested several times on drug-related charges. Because of the scandal that followed, she lost many of her lucrative modeling contracts with such companies as the clothing retailer H&M. The Swedish fashion retailer H&M dropped her from its campaign of autumn clothes designed by Stella McCartney because of drug allegations. The contract was reportedly worth £4 million a year. A day later, Chanel said it would not renew its contract with Moss, which was to expire that October, although its decision had nothing to do with the drug scandal. Today, Moss is the only one of the 1990s-era supermodels who still has an active and lucrative career in modelling. According to analysis conducted by Forbes, she earned $5 million between June 2015 and June 2016, ranking her 13th amongst the 20 highest earning models in the world. This may be less than in years past, when Forbes says she earned up to $13 million or more, but at 42, Moss is the oldest model on this year’s list and has the longest uninterrupted streak at the top of the modelling game, making her one of the richest women in Britain with a net worth estimated by The Sunday Times to be more than $75 million.
Moss has a daughter, Lila Grace Moss-Hack, born in 2002, with Dazed & Confused editor Jefferson Hack, with whom she was in a relationship for a number of years in the early 2000s.

Kate Moss has 'quietly' reached a formal separation agreement with former husband Jamie Hince. The 42-year-old model is allegedly describing herself as 'divorced' and apparently came to a pleasant agreement with the musician 'some time ago' without any 'high profile legal battle'.
Jamie Hince cited 'adultery' as the reason for his split from wife Kate Moss. The Kills frontman, 47, and the supermodel, 42, are believed to have ended their relationship last July, and Kate has since been linked to Count Nikolai von Bismarck.
The fashion icon has remained tight-lipped about the state of her relationship status, but has failed to deny reports she is now in a relationship with Nikolai, who is 13 years her junior. The two - said to have been long-acquainted through his mother, Debonnaire, a socialite who is friends with Kate - and reportedly began renting part of her London home in October.
Kate, 42, and Nikolai, 29, have started making plans to have a low-key wedding in Greece after falling in love with the country during a summer break. The couple are reportedly hoping to tie the knot before Christmas, but Kate wants to wait until her divorce from Jamie Hince is finalised before sending out invites.
This month, Moss is launching her own talent management agency: Kate Moss Agency.
I want to focus more on managing people’s careers than just [running] a modelling agency. I don’t really want pretty people, I want people that want to sing and dance and act — I want to create stars,” she says
At first, the agency will work with a handful of talents and represent them as models. To make her vision a reality, Moss has quietly been building a small team to work alongside Lucy Baxter, her longtime booking agent, who also left Storm earlier this year.
The supermodel-turned-businesswoman is also expanding the Kate Moss lifestyle brand with a string of new collaborations and projects set to roll out later this year. The move is a natural extension of her previous work for the likes of Topshop, Longchamp and Equipment, all of whom have banked on her brand power, working with her during her time at Storm to launch new products bearing her name.
