Coming from two different sides of the pond, the American actress and British royal actually met somewhere in between. According to Us Weekly, Meghan first met Prince Harry in Toronto (where her show Suits is filmed) while he was launching the 2017 Invictus Games in May 2016.
After getting set up by their mutual friend Markus Anderson, whom Meghan often refers to as her "partner in crime" on social media, their transatlantic relationship soared to new heights. The duo started texting each other every day, and by the end of the month, Meghan started following Harry's private Instagram account.
Meghan also counts Misha Nonoo as her close friend. A fashion designer, Misha was married to Harry's old friend, Alexander Gilkes.
Since then, the couple have gone on numerous low-key dates. Meghan enjoyed a stint in London in June before jetting off to Spain. While in the capital, she posted pictures of Buckingham Palace on Instagram and was photographed sitting in the Royal Box at Wimbledon.
According to the source, they went out to Soho House in London with a group of friends in early July, followed by two dates by themselves. She later became a regular visitor at his Kensington Palace residence.
Following rumours the pair were seen wearing matching bracelets. They’ve been spotted wearing the same blue beaded bracelet in recent months. Prince Harry reportedly picked up the bracelet during one of his trips to Africa. And the gift has rarely left the actress’s wrist! Markle has posted several photos showing off her sweet trinket.
Harry also started following the stunning star on Instagram – from his very private account.
Insiders say Harry, 32, is “besotted” with the actress. “He’s happier than he’s been for many years,” said a source close to the Prince. “He’s in a very relaxed period of his life and Meghan has come along at the right time. “They are taking each week as it comes and just enjoying each other’s company but it’s fair to say that they love seeing each other and there’s a definite chemistry between them."
In early November, Harry released a statement via the Kensington Palace Twitter account to urge the public to respect Meghan's privacy in the wake of many UK outlets making racist and sexist comments about the actress. The prince alludes to "nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of the papers," along with incessant harassment of Meghan, her family, friends, and even her ex-boyfriends. "This is not a game," the statement reads. "It is her life and his."
During an official visit to Antigua, Prime Minister Gaston Browne teases Harry, “I believe we are expecting a new princess soon. I want know that you are very welcome to come on your honeymoon here … there will be nowhere in the world as special to spend your honeymoon, when that day arrives.” Sources tell Us Weekly Harry was “clearly embarrassed” and even “went bright red.”
Following reports that Prince William was unhappy with Harry’s decision to go public with his relationship, Wills releases a statement through Kensington Palace to clear the air: “The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him."
The two brothers had a heart to heart conversation about whether it was right to make a public plea to internet trolls to stop their “abuse” of Miss Markle.
Although the Duke is understood to have been wary of setting a precedent for confirming royal relationships, he agreed with his younger brother that the situation had gone too far and that something had to be done.
Prince Harry introduced girlfriend Meghan Markle to father Prince Charles during a shooting party at the royal Balmoral estate in Scotland. The encounter took place during Harry's 32nd birthday bash in September, after the prince had invited his nearest and dearest to the secluded estate in Aberdeenshire for two days of country pursuits, including grouse shooting.

While at a flower shop in Toronto, Meghan is pictured wearing a necklace with the letters “M” and “H.” According to Entertainment Tonight, the 14K gold Maya Brenner Asymmetrical Letter necklace is $240, with an additional $60 for each letter.
Markle and Harry had celebrated the festive season together in London. On December 12, the couple stopped at the Pines and Needles store to pick up a 6-foot fir Christmas tree.

Meghan and Harry embark on their first official vacation together after spending New Year's in London. Us Weekly reported that the couple jetted off to the Norwegian fjords to catch the Northern Lights, staying with Harry's close friend, expedition guide and polar consultant Inge Solheim at his luxury property in Tromsø. According to a source at The Sun, Harry "put a lot of thought into it and wanted to make it as romantic and special as possible.”
Prince Harry introduced Meghan Markle to Kate Middleton for the first time. She also met the Prince's niece, Princess Charlotte, during the trip to Kensington Palace.
A source told The Sun that Kate was 'really looking forward' to meeting Markle and added that the meeting was very 'important' to Harry.
The insider said: 'They are very close and he really values her opinion on girlfriends.
The source added: "Obviously Harry's mother, Princess Diana, died when he was very young so Kate really fulfils that older sister/maternal role. It went really well and Meghan was very excited about meeting her."
Harry and Meghan reportedly visited Prince William and Kate's home, Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, a stone's throw away from Harry's Nottingham Cottage. The actress gave the Duchess a thoughtful, belated birthday present. Prince George was at the family's country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk as he goes to nursery there.

A source told People magazine that the Suits star is now due to attend the reception after the wedding, but is not invited to the ceremony at St. Mark’s church in Englefield, Berkshire.
And etiquette expert Myka Meier told the magazine that Meghan's evening invite is more likely down to timing than the fact she and Prince Harry aren't engaged or married.
'I would not be surprised if Prince Harry was not given a plus one, as the wedding guest list would have most likely been made in fall of last year when Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan was not as public,' she explained.
Markle traveled to the Cowarth Polo Club in Ascot, England, over the weekend to watch Harry compete in the Audi Polo Challenge, where she couldn't help but flash a huge smile. It marks the first time that Harry (who looked equally smitten, by the way) and Meghan attended a public event together.
